GATE's 17th Annual BBQ Rib Cook-Off and Apple Pie Contest

Rib Cookoff, Apple Pie contest and auction, Appetizer Contest, and BBQ ribs dinner. Please plan to join us at the Wapello County Fairgrounds on August 5, 2023. Competition runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with the community meal from 1-5 p.m.

For G.A.T.E. 17th ANNUAL RIB COOK-OFF AND APPLE PIE MAKING CONTEST! Camping avail for $20 per night. This year's event to benefit the expansion of the Disc Golf Course to 18 holes.

CONTEST INFORMATION:

RIB COOK-OFF:

$30 Entry fee. Teams may register the day of the event. Must cook 6 pork ribs and turn in for judging at specified times. Boxes will be provided. Cooks meeting at 9 am. Traveling trophy and cash prize for the champion additional prizes for the next 3 teams. Limited electrical hookups available. 

APPETIZER CONTEST :
Open to all registered cooks. Three portions in disposable dish/container. Turn in at 2:00. Trophy to the winner.

APPLE PIE CONTEST: 
Contestants may register on the day of the competition. To enter you must make 1 Apple pie to be judged and 1 pie of any flavor for the pie auction. Pies are to be turned in by 12:00 noon. Contact Sarah Rupe 641-777-8301 for details.
