From electrifying rock shows to classic symphony concerts, hilarious stand-up, and outdoor music fests, Ottumwa and Wapello County are set for a jam-packed season of entertainment. Whether you're a fan of Broadway musicals, iconic rock legends, or community-driven porch concerts, there's something for everyone to enjoy in the months ahead.
From August 15–17, the Ottumwa Community Players bring beloved fairytale characters to life in Shrek the Musical. Expect laughs, heart, and great performances in this family-friendly production at the Ottumwa High School Auditorium.
Then, on August 23, make a day of it with Porchfest at the American Gothic House in Eldon. This unique event transforms the porch of the famous house into a stage for local musicians and storytellers, celebrating grassroots creativity in one of Iowa’s most iconic settings.
That same evening, the Parks N' Riffs returns to the Izaak Walton League. It’s the perfect way to wind down the summer, surrounded by nature, good people, and great music under the stars.
As summer closes, two legendary rock acts go head-to-head on August 30 at the Bridge View Center Theater in Beatles vs Stones: A Musical Showdown. This high-energy tribute pits two of rock’s most influential bands against each other in a fun, nostalgic night that fans of all ages will enjoy.
September brings sophistication and soul. On September 13, the Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra hosts its elegant Dinner and Pops Concert, blending fine dining with a lively symphonic program. Perfect for a night out.
Then, on September 27, the Bridge View Center Expo Hall turns up the volume with Cinderella’s Tom Keifer, joined by special guests L.A. Guns. It's a full-throttle rock show you won’t want to miss.
And Parks N' Riffs returns again that same night (Sept. 27) for another laid-back session of live outdoor music.
The fall offers something for every taste. Comedy fans can catch Preacher Lawson, an America’s Got Talent favorite, on October 5 at the Bridge View Center. His high-energy humor and infectious personality promise a night full of laughs.
The next evening, on October 6, singer-songwriter A.J. Croce brings his acclaimed Croce Plays Croce show to the Bridge View Theater, paying tribute to the music of his legendary father, Jim Croce, while showcasing his own rich musical voice.
On October 12, the Southeast Iowa Symphony returns with Brahms’ First Symphony, a masterwork of classical music that’s powerful, emotional, and deeply moving.
And for those who love music with a cinematic twist, don’t miss Kidsymphony: A John Williams Halloween on November 1, a Southeast Iowa Symphony special featuring iconic themes from the master of movie scores, timed perfectly for spooky season.
